For the last part of our trip to Greece, we put down our suitcases in Sifnos, a small island in the Cyclades. We stayed there for 4 days. We appreciated the calm and the beauty of this small island in the Cyclades.
Itinerary

Day 1 : Paris Athens
Day 4 : Athens Delphi
Day 9 : Back to Athens and go to Sifnos
Day 10, 11, 12 : Sifnos
Day 13 : Sifnos Athens
Day 14 : Athens Paris
Day 9
Transition day, we leave Xiropidago towards Athens to take the boat to the island of Sifnos in the afternoon.
We leave our car with a representative of the rental agency who came to pick it up at the port of Piraeus. The service was impeccable from start to finish.
The port of Piraeus is the largest cargo port in Greece. It is also one of the largest ports in the world for passenger traffic. It provides maritime connections to the country's many islands as well as internationally. It is estimated that 12 million passengers pass through Piraeus each year.
Three hours of crossing later, we arrive on the island of Sifnos, the last stop on our trip. When we arrived in Kamares, the shuttle from the Afroditi hotel was waiting for us. Even though the hotel is not far from the dock where the ferries arrive, it was very convenient not to have to walk there with our suitcases.
Day 10
Relaxing day in Kamares. We enjoy the beach despite the wind that blows quite strongly. It seems that this is often the case in summer, and this is the case almost everywhere in the Cyclades. Even if we have to deal with flying sand, the wind helps to bear the high temperatures.
Day 11
After a tiring day at the beach, we decide to go and visit the northern part of the island. We had not booked a car in advance like in Athens. So we rent the last car available in inventory in Kamares. Not really a choice of model: a very small mustard Chevrolet, without air conditioning and without electric windows. At least the island is not very big, we will not do a lot of mileage in our day.

We start our journey by going to the Angia Simeon Monastery, which we could see from the beach in front of our hotel.
We then continue our trip, towards the tiny village of Cherronisos. The beach is very small and there are only two restaurants on the waterfront. Ideal for eating good fresh fish. You choose your fish and the cooking method. Nothing could be simpler, and so good.
Next stop, Vroulidia beach. The road to get there is very bumpy and it is not paved. The slope is impressive and the turns at the edge of the cliff are dizzying. Given the car we have, we stop in a space that looks like a parking lot along the way and we decide to finish our journey on foot. The beach is quiet. It is made of pebbles and not sand and it is better sheltered from the wind than the beach of Kamares. No problem with flying sand here.
We continue our tour of the island by going to the capital, Apollonia.
This small town is located in the center of the island and has no access to the sea. It has the classic Cycladic architecture, the small alleys and the typical white and blue houses. This is where the nightlife takes place in the bars, cafes, restaurants and shops.
Before returning to Kamares, we stop at Kastro, a small fortified village a few kilometers from Apollonia.
Day 12
Last full day in Sifnos. Beach, sun and relaxation are on the agenda for this day.
Day 13
We reluctantly leave Sifnos around noon heading for Athens.
As we get off the boat, the heat surprises us. We had forgotten the atmosphere of the Greek capital. We already miss the wind of Sifnos!
We return to the same hotel as a few days ago, the Cecil Hotel.
Last evening in Greece.
Day 14
End of the trip and return to Paris.
See you soon.
