To start our trip to Greece, we decided to stay 2 full days in Athens to visit at least 2 of our must-sees: the Acropolis and the Archaeological Museum of Athens.

Itinerary
Day 1 : Paris Athens
Day 2 et 3 : Athens
Day 4 : Athens Delphi
Day 6 : Visit to Nafplio
Day 7 : Visit to Olympia
Day 8 : Visit to Epidaurus
Day 9 : Back to Athens and go to Sifnos
Day 10, 11 et 12 : Sifnos
Day 13 : Sifnos Athens
Day 14 : Athens Paris
Day 1
We arrived in the evening at Athens airport from Paris. To reach our hotel, the Cecil Hotel, we took the metro. Fast and cheap, it is an excellent way to get to the city center.
We are not far from Monastiraki Square and from the window of our room we can see the Acropolis.

Jour 2
For our first day in the Greek capital, we have a busy schedule.

We start early with the Archeological museum of Athens, as soon as it opens. This is the largest archaeological museum in the country. It houses the largest collection of Greek antiquities in the world dating from prehistory to late antiquity.
After this long visit to the museum, we headed to the parliament to watch the changing of the national guard. On the way we passed the national library, the university and we crossed the business and banking district.
The changing of the guard happens on the hour and it is a real spectacle not to be missed.
Next to the parliament is the National Garden. A perfect place to take a little break in the shade.
Then head to the hyper-touristy district of Plaka, passing Hadrian's Arch and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens.
End of our first day in Athens in Monastiraki Square.

Day 3
Up early because we have a goal today: to climb to the top of the Acropolis as early as possible before the overwhelming heat and the hordes of tourists. At this time of day, the city is not yet completely awake. Monastiraki Square is empty.
We enter through the Agora at the foot of the Acropolis to begin the climb. It is already hot! At the top, at the entrance to the main site, there are starting to be more people, but it is still very tolerable. The Acropolis is one of the most visited tourist sites in the world.
The site is still under renovation but it is nevertheless splendid.
After our visit to the Acropolis, we returned to Hadrian's Arch which is next to the Temple of Zeus.
End of the day wandering around the Plaka district. Perfect area to have a drink on a terrace or in the air conditioning. It's up to you! We also take the opportunity to buy souvenirs in the small "tourist trap" shops.
Day 4
We leave Athens by car heading northwest to Delphi.
To be continued...
